Job Summary The Curriculum Development Manager will be responsible for managing the curriculum development and implementation of the new pathway track for Future Ready NYC Program. The program manager may also teach other programs, such as Solar CTE or Career Connect, depending on the schedule. Solar One's hybrid schedule is flexible, but this position will require teaching and training in-person in NYC. Computer-based work can be done at home or in our office space in Long Island City, Queens.
- Write a three-year curriculum scope for Future Ready HVAC and Decarbonization track for submission in SY '24 - '25. Curriculum draft must be submitted by December 31, 2024 and revisions must be submitted by June 30, 2025.
- The Program Manager will be trained in Solar One's Green Workforce training content, adapting skills for HS students. Regular collaboration with the Green Workforce team is expected.
- Piloting and teaching four HVAC and Decarbonization activities with six partner schools during the Spring of SY '24 - '25.
- Utilizing feedback from students, teachers, and school administrators in collaboration with the Education Team on program and curriculum design updates.
- Co-facilitating professional development workshops for NYCPS teachers to gain feedback on the curriculum development project.
- Provide individual guidance to schools implementing FRNYC in partnership with the Director of CTE and NYCPS instructional coaches.
- Teaching Solar One's curriculum focused on climate action and solar hard skills. Teaching is often at schools or our Education Center at Stuyvesant Cove Park. Travel around NYC will be required.
- Coordinating programs with schools and other community partners. This includes program planning, materials coordination, and scheduling.
- Assisting the Director of CTE Education with administrative tasks such as reporting and program evaluation.
- Potential to deliver a 6-week intensive high school summer school program focused on green careers from July through mid-August.
- Tracking and recording activities delivered to schools and teachers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required
- 3+ years of curriculum development experience.
- 2 + years of experience teaching K-12 students content aligned with STEM, climate action, and/or environmental sustainability. Classroom experience is strongly preferred
- 1+ years experience delivering professional development training to teachers preferred
- Must have experience learning and teaching technical content such as engineering, HVAC, energy content, etc
- Must be culturally responsive and committed to equity and racial justice.
- Demonstrated success in communicating with partner organizations and individuals to build and maintain strong partnerships.
