The Health Fellows Program Manager is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of LifeLong's California Volunteers (CV) State AmeriCorps grant program. Support and facilitate the recruitment and management of AmeriCorps Members and Volunteers.

This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible.

LifeLong Medical Care is a large, multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Benefits

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

    Execute AmeriCorps Health Fellows recruiting requirements according to organization plans.
  • Build applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining competitive rapport.
  • Determine applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; verifying references; arranging management interviews and organization tours.
  • Manage new AmeriCorps Health Fellows Member relocation by suggesting temporary housing; providing community introductions.
  • Manage organization's policies and practices; monitor AmeriCorps service hours within living allowance stipend and education award packages; emphasizing benefits and perks.
  • Manage AmeriCorps Health Fellows program by conducting orientations; advising on Member Assignment Descriptions; coaching AmeriCorps Health Fellows Members; training Site Supervisors.

Workforce Development & Training

  • Design and expand onboarding, learning and development programs based on LifeLong, California Volunteers, AmeriCorps Health Fellows' needs.
  • Facilitate annual performance evaluations including mid-year and end-of-year review process.
  • Implement CV/AmeriCorps Health Fellows performance measure training requirements and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and track CV deliverables for the AmeriCorps grant
  • Deliver training programs personally or arrange and manage third party trainers.
  • Prepare Members for higher education and career opportunities by providing mock interviews and resume building sessions; writing letters of recommendation.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications; maintaining personal networks (e.g. alumni engagement); participating in professional organizations.
  • Coordinate and organize community events with the participation of Members; socializing events to build cohesion with staff and Members.

Administration and other related duties

  • Manage personnel and evaluation data tracking mechanisms through E-Grants, SalesForce and PayCom.
  • Conduct site visits and monitor service activities to ensure that project requirements and performance measurements are met on a timely basis.
  • Enroll/exit AmeriCorps Health Fellows Members on eGrants/My AmeriCorps portal and arrange benefits.
  • Manage program budgets and monitor revenues and expenditures.
  • Oversee the development and execution of sub-recipient contracts between organization and CV/AmeriCorps Health Fellows.
  • Meet timely deadlines for all reporting including cost reimbursement and financial status reports.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has direct staff supervisory responsibilities
    • Up to 10 full-time AmeriCorps Health Fellow/AmeriCorps Members
  • This position has indirect staff supervisory responsibilities
    • 10-15 AmeriCorps Health Fellows Member Site Supervisors (LifeLong staff)
Qualifications
  • Commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved with demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic and cultural origins.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff and to contribute to staff development.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills, and ability to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others, including other employees, community partners and vendors.
  • Ability to work with individuals and organizations at the local level to build support.
  • Ability to seek direction/approval from on essential matters, yet work independently with little onsite supervision, using professional judgment and diplomacy.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and be culturally sensitive.

  • Ability to see how one's work intersects with that of other departments of LifeLong Medical Care and that of other partner organizations.

Job Requirements

  • BA in public health, social sciences or health-related field, or three years of related experience.
  • Two years of volunteer supervision and team management experience including creating and implementing volunteer programs and training.
  • Two years' work experience in a non-profit health or social service agency.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, recruitment, supervision, communication, interpersonal relationships, project management, training management, presentation, and customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite and Internet cloud programs.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and practice management systems such as EPIC

Job Preferences

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Community Healthcare experience.
  • Bilingual; Spanish a plus.
  • Former AmeriCorps Member, a plus.
