Job Description:Position Summary:Reporting to the Center Director, The Program Manager will sustainably grow the Hudson Valley Program in alignment with Audubon's Strategic Plan's conservation and engagement goals. The Program Manager will lead program planning and implementation, supervise staff and interns, coordinate volunteer engagement, and integrate our community conservation and habitat restoration efforts throughout the area.The Program Manager is an important team member whose input will be valuable for operationalizing Audubon's Strategic Plan and the Centers Transformation Process at the Hudson Valley sites and will shape the future of our work.This role will take a thoughtful approach to community engagement and will seek opportunities for projects that meet Center goals, community needs, and Audubon's mission. They are responsible for all aspects of planning, administering and implementing the Hudson Valley Community Conservation and Outreach Programs.Compensation:$53,000 - $63,000 / yearAdditional Job DescriptionEssential Functions* With the Center Director, strategically develop Audubon's Hudson Valley programming. Conduct needs assessment, create metrics, and evaluation methods.* Promote, develop, and deliver community-based conservation programs at and near the Hudson Valley Audubon sites that engage key audiences and inspire conservation action. Central components include bird conservation, climate, youth leadership, and partner collaboration.* With the Center Director and in collaboration with the Land Steward, integrate our Hudson Valley conservation efforts with community conservation interests.* Expand our Youth Conservation Leadership programs, including internships and the Youth Climate Summit program; develop additional Youth Leadership initiatives aligned to the NAS (National Audubon Society) Strategic Plan and community need.* Maintain and strengthen partnerships to help reach organizational goals. Collaborate with other Audubon CT/NY staff; develop conservation education tools and resources. Expand and diversify our constituency; inspire new audiences to support our work locally, support Audubon's larger mission, and take conservation action for birds, people, and the planet.* Supervise interns, fellows, seasonal hires, and contract staff as needed. Provide coaching, mentoring, and supervision.* Participate in staff meetings, discussions, and trainings related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging; seek to implement best practices.* With the Center Director, seek and contribute information for grant proposals and reports to fund and support relevant programming.* Serve as an ambassador for Audubon throughout the community, including conferences, meetings, festivals, and other events. Occasionally interface with donors and foundation representatives. Work with partners, independent contractors, etc.* Participate fully and productively in staff meetings, planning efforts, and other shared staff duties.* Create interpretive materials for public exhibits.* Collaborate with Audubon staff to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles are incorporated and followed in all aspects of our work.* Support a culture of philanthropy, including public funding efforts.* Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.* Other job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications and Experience* Bachelor's degree in education, biology, environmental science, or equivalent experience and a minimum of five years' experience in community organizing and/or conservation education. A similar combination of education and experience will also be considered.* Experience with ecological monitoring and habitat restoration.* Strong desire to lead & manage programs, staff and mentor fellows and interns in a complex suite of ongoing conservation programs.* Ability to work across projects to achieve programmatic goals and be attentive to detail with strong follow through.* Capacity to work both as part of a team and independently.* Flexible approach to scheduling and ability to anticipate upcoming needs, careful time management and punctuality.* Experience, organizational skills, and initiative working with volunteers and/or children (ages 4-18) to increase their ecological knowledge.* Able to work extended hours in the field, in all conditions, including weekends and holidays as needed.* Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs, and ability to traverse up to 5 miles on uneven terrain carrying spotting scope, binoculars, program materials and daypack with or without accommodation.* Experience with Microsoft office suite including Excel.* Comfort in speaking publicly and managing small and large groups, both indoors and outdoors.* Proficient in computer and technology skills and associated applications.* A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.* A reliable personal vehicle for outreaches.* Commitment to Audubon's organizational values of care, collaboration, change, integrity, impact, and innovation.* Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to and experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.This position is represented by the Communication Workers of America (CWA).EEO StatementThe National Audubon Society is a federal contractor and an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
