JOB DESCRIPTION – Program Manager- Southern California

AESC is seeking a Program Manager within our Southern CA region within the LA/San Diego area who will be responsible for the performance of energy and demand reduction contracts to ensure efforts meet all goals and client needs are addressed. The Program Manager will work closely and collaboratively with AESC Upper Management for overall strategy and to ensure program success.

This position requires an organized and results-oriented leader with excellent communication skills who can initiate, build, and maintain strong relationships. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in energy efficiency (EE), including project management and/or program management. The successful candidate should have the ability to understand and communicate complex EE concepts simply and clearly, provide clarity when it is lacking, maintain detail-orientation while keeping an eye on the big picture, and adapt quickly to address issues effectively.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office) / Remote: Offices in Carlsbad, Oakland, & Pasadena California, we are looking for someone within the LA or San Diego region to service clients in that area.

Reports to: Program Director

Salary Range: $114,920 – $145,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own performance of assigned contracts.
  • Manage contract budget, goals, client and program participant satisfaction.
  • Track and report progress internally and externally, through informal and formal reporting
  • Identify, strategize, and implement process improvements.
  • Identify gaps in approach, materials, and services and implement / document resolutions.
  • Create and deliver client invoices.
  • Lead client-facing meetings, track open items, and ensure resolution.
  • Coordinate with program teams (project managers and engineers) on project statuses, ensuring smooth and effective intake, completion, and tracking.
  • Work with program team to troubleshoot issues, complex situations, and create improvement plans, all with any eye towards effort success.
  • Manage sub-contractors and their contracts, work assignments, and partnership success.
  • Support and/or lead business development initiatives with new and existing clients.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 8 years of experience in energy efficiency including project management and/or program management.
  • An understanding of the California EE landscape is a must.
  • Must be within the LA/San Diego area to service clients within that region. Regular on-site visits required.
  • Business development experience a plus.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience; bachelor's degree in energy related field is preferred but not required.
  • Must be self-directed and have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain a professional rapport with market stakeholders, customers, and trade professionals.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex EE concepts simply and clearly.
  • General knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards in the energy efficiency field.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Ability to excel and provide direction in the face of ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Ability to think on your feet and thrive in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities.
  • Problem solving, out of the box thinking, and flexibility a must.
