ABOUT US:
Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS) helps New Yorkers who have a history of housing insecurity, often compounded by mental health or substance use disorders, to achieve their highest level of independence. We were established in 1982 by faith and community leaders on Manhattan's Upper East Side who believed that housing insecurity issues is the responsibility of the entire community. More than 40 years later, we are still guided by the principle that neighbors should help neighbors.
Today, NCS offers an array of groundbreaking housing and supportive services, including counseling, substance use treatment, vocational and educational programs, and employment support, and we are poised for further growth.
NCS provides New Yorkers who are housing insecure or at risk of becoming housing insecure with a community, and access to the services that they need to thrive.
POSITION SUMMARY:
NCS Connect serves individuals who may need services but are currently disconnected from them. We have a presence at free meal programs on the Upper East Side of Manhattan five evenings a week, providing guests with information and referrals for shelter and housing, public assistance, counseling, mental health and substance use treatment, and various other local services.
The Chance to Connect (CTC) program, located on the Lower Level of Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, offers a space for guests referred from NCS Connect to receive follow-up support and light case management. Here, they can enjoy a respite with coffee, snacks, Wi-Fi, activities, toiletries, and other essentials.
The Program Manager will deliver social work services to support NCS Connect's mobile information, referral, and case management program for low-income, housing insecure, and at-risk households utilizing community meal programs and visits to CTC, the resource center for NCS Connect clients.

Education and Experience/Training:
Prior experience in social service environment, particularly working with housing insecure, mentally ill and/or chemically addicted individuals.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field; Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.

NCS is committed to maintaining a safe and secure workplace for our employees and clients. Please be advised that regulatory agencies mandate all potential employees successfully complete a background screening process that includes fingerprinting prior to employment. A section of the background screen requires address history for the last 28 years.

Final salary will be determined based on various factors which may include internal equity, work experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
