This position provides leadership of two areas: Patient Safety and Process Improvement initiatives.
Patient Safety: This person is responsible for working collaboratively with key leaders across the market and enterprise for the purpose of measurably improving patient safety and reducing patient harm/errors. This requires responsibility for performing Patient Safety Investigations and for supporting and performing patient safety event data analysis and activities that support UnityPoint Health (UPH) safety initiatives. This position assists in the resolution of safety issues/concerns by facilitating root cause analysis and action planning with cross-functional teams, leading them through process improvement activities utilizing evidence-based quality improvement tools and methodologies.
Process Improvement: This person is responsible for helping to build an organization-wide culture of continuous improvement. To do this, this position partners with key stakeholders to lead improvements. Additionally. This position supports staff within each department as they embed improvement tools and methodologies into their culture. This position utilizes a variety of Six Sigma, Lean, Process Mapping and Change Management tools to accomplish these objectives. It is of utmost importance this position excels in relationship building and focuses on top notch customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
Bachelors degree in Nursing
Masters Degree
Experience:
Minimum of five years of healthcare experience.
Basic understanding of care processes provided in multiple sites of care.
Prior healthcare leadership responsibility. Knowledge of rapid cycle improvement theory and human factor principles.
Experience in patient safety or patient care performance improvement or relevant area.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Current licensure in good standing to practice as Registered Nurse in Iowa.
Valid drivers license when driving any
vehicle for work-related reasons.
Certified Profession in Patient Safety (CPPS)
Just Culture Certification
Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean or Adaptive Design certification
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and writing skills.
Advanced interpersonal communication skills to provide effective consultation and collaboration.
Ability to relate to clinicians and support staff with diverse backgrounds.
