INTRODUCTION: CONTEXT AND MISSIONThe Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. THE OPPORTUNITY: Location: Administration or As AssignedReports To: Director of College Readiness and Postsecondary ProgrammingFLSA Status: ExemptSalary Band: 14Compensation: $ 63,240. - $ 88,536.**Internal applicants are required to upload a resume to their application**As part of the College and Readiness Team, the Program Manager, School Counseling requires an individual with superior leadership, analytical, execution, and change management skills. This position will serve as a key contributor to the success of CMSD's school counselors, teachers, leaders, and scholars
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Functions as the liaison between the district-wide School Counselors and the CMSD Department of College and Career Readiness.
- Facilitates and coordinates district-wide support for school counselors, including training, professional development, coaching, and mentoring, which builds their capacity to support all students with college and career readiness.
- Monitors systems to track students' progress toward graduation, including, but not limited to, on-track-to-graduation data, transcript analysis, FAFSA completion, college application completion, etc.
- Supports counselors with the input and consistent monitoring of accurate student data and student records and ensures student academic histories are accurate
- Develop a support system for school counselors and visit schools regularly to ensure consistency in implementing the school counseling program
- Plans and implements FAFSA and Financial Aid completion activities and supports families through the college application process.
- Develops and implements four-year graduation plans for students and supports school counselors in ensuring individual meetings with each student to create and monitor four-year plans
- Maintains knowledge of and leads district participation in area, regional, and state job fairs and college nights
- Develop strong positive relationships with district partners, community groups, leaders, and stakeholders and facilitate two-way communications supporting the district's academic plans
- Collaborates with various departments to create an annual course catalog to provide students, families, and the community with a clear and concise summary of the coursework offered at each middle and high school
- Works collaboratively with the school leaders, College Now Advisors, College, Career, Community, Coordinators, and Family Support Specialists to monitor student data and determine areas of focus that will ensure student success
- Develops strong positive relationships with various department managers in CMSD in support of school counselors
- Collaborates with district administrators to develop, lead, and implement a systematic process for identifying and addressing inequities and other experiences that create barriers to graduation and post-secondary success.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Education, or a related degree, required.
- Master in School Counseling preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years teaching at the High School Level, preferred.
- Experience as a High School Administrator/Counselor, required
- Must have a strong understanding of school counselor work.
- Demonstrated proficiency with general office technologies (i.e., PC, tablets, etc.), virtual meeting platforms (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.), and software packages (i.e., Microsoft Office). Proficiency with enterprise technologies & databases (i.e., Workday, eSchoolPlus, SchoolNet, BoardDocs, Poll Everywhere, PowerBI, and others., etc.), online data management systems, and data collection methodology.
- Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives.
- Possess a strong understanding of data, formative/summative assessment, and familiarity with interpretation and delivery of acquisition of data to support principal and teacher understanding of class/school level data in support of learning (e.g., ODE Assessments)
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, district partners, and the public •Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
