For over 50 years, HYP has developed and maintained prevention programs that promote the health and leadership of youth, and, as a result divert youth from violence, crime and gang involvement, as well as other harmful behaviors, including running away, drug/alcohol abuse, risky sexual activities, and involvement in the juvenile justice systems. For more information about our various programs please go to our website at www.huckleberryyouth.org POSITION SUMMARY: The SF Justice Initiative is a multi-pronged strategy to disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline for middle schoolers by supporting them in their schools and preventing them from entering the juvenile delinquency system. This initiative will disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by: Establishing a parent-based coalition to hold SFUSD accountable for its treatment of middle school students, and to advocate for policies that support students-especially students of color and students with disabilities-in school and outside of the juvenile justice system; Building the capacity of youth and families by offering support and guidance to families navigating school discipline or special education issues; Empowering youth and families to advocate for systemic change by supporting youth leadership development and developing demands for public investment in preventive and early intervention services for middle school students at risk of being pushed out of their schools; Ensuring legal representation for young people and families in school disciplinary proceedings, special education advocacy and related issues including school enrollment, regional center eligibility and service provision, and other civil legal needs in order to improve the likelihood that students and families can thrive; Providing robust school-based support to students facing behavioral and attendance challenges at multiple middle schools with high suspension rates, including case management, therapy, and mentoring. This initiative includes a collaborative partnership with Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth, Young Community Developers(YCD), Legal Services for Children, Disability Rights California, and Youth Law Center. The role of the Justice Initiative Program Manager is to ensure that the program is meeting or exceeding its programmatic goals, coordinating the program, supervising a team of four, providing direct service to program participants, understanding the contracts associated with the program and working in partnership with the SF Justice Initiative Partners. Our role in the initiative is to provide mentorship, care management, advocacy and support to middle school youth who experience truancy, behavioral, and/or disciplinary issues in select schools with historically high rates of suspension. Huckleberry's comprehensive programming will include: academic support, social emotional learning/development (SEL/D) activities, counseling, case management, regular family engagement, and field trips for program-intensive participants. Huckleberry will also provide lower-touch support to a wider range of middle school students, including tabling and prevention education workshops to increase student wellbeing. All activities are designed using restorative and transformative justice best practices to help youth build and strengthen the knowledge, tools, and skills they need to feel a sense of belonging, reconnect to school and community support, boost academics, and reduce instances of disciplinary action at school. The will act as a bridge between the initiative partners, the youth, their family, community and the school partner sites. They must be able to work within a collaborative process, include families in services, and negotiate successfully with multidisciplinary systems such as middle and high schools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Supervision & Services
- Provide day to day oversight of the program including hiring, training, superving, supporting, and evaluating staff.
- Coordinate and participate in program components including trainings, workshops, weekly team meetings, outreach, recruitment, and out-of-school activities.
- Co-create and implement professional development growth plans with each staff and the team.
- Act as liaison to the initiative partners, school partner sites, administration, and program staff.
- Participate in regular supervision with the Director of Youth Justice and attend agency meetings, trainings, and events.
- Partner with the HYP Clinical Director to supervise and support the program therapists.
- Develop and maintain staff schedules.
- Partner with the other Justice Department manager staff to coordinate site staff meetings, trainings, retreats, and other events.
- Serve as a member of the HYP Management Team as assigned.
- Support as needed with rotating on-call managers for the San Francisco CARC evening hours.
- Support with administrative responsibilities as needed such as reception, filing, organizing supplies, office cleaning, etc.
- Other assigned duties as needed to run effective programming.
Data & Documentation
- Provide continuous audits of data entry, documentation, and program assessments, timely follow-up and follow-through of staff and ensure database and data entry are accurate and complete.
- Supervise, coordinate, and review data and documentation for all staff, program services and activities.
- Help enter data and documentation about all program services: grant reporting, recruitment, school-wide offerings, events/groups, and youth and family engagement.
- Participate and co-coordinate monthly data meetings with the Director of Research and Evaluation.
Program Development
- Research, develop, review, and modify the program curriculum and all programmatic services.
- Ensure high quality of services by conducting frequent observation of activities and conducting regular data inquiry and review.
- Assist in writing progress reports and other program status reports to funders and partners.
- Assist in co-creating a training manual including policies and procedures.
- Provide direct services and support for some youth participants as needed.
Community Outreach
- Establish and maintain relationships with the San Francisco Unified School District and the teachers and administration working at partner middle schools and future school or community partner sites.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other school officials and personnel as necessary to plan and implement recruitment, groups, weekly meetings, and contract outcomes.
- Network, through direct outreach, meetings, and joint projects with other community based organizations/youth service providers and represent HYP in the community.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in social work, human/social services, or related field. Minimum 1-3 yrs previous experience working with a school environment and case management intervention strategies with adolescents. Minimum of 2 years of previous management/supervision experience in related fields. Prior experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds using a youth development approach. Effective in being mobile to provide services in multiple locations. Experience in curriculum development, project design, implementation, and evaluation. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to problem solve quickly and calmly in a crisis. Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently as well as be able to work cohesively in a culturally diverse team environment. Excellent analytical thinking skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, organization, planning, research, and budget skills. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree in social work, public health, human/social services, counseling, or related field Bilingual and ability to provide all activities above in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Mandarin, stipend provided. Previous experience coordinating youth services within a school and/or community based programming. Thorough knowledge of community based agencies serving adolescents in San Francisco. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates out of the Huckleberry Gough St. offices with frequent visits to school and community partner sites. Staff will continue some hybrid work including remote and in-person service delivery. This role routinely includes driving and the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The Huckleberry Gough site is located in San Francisco and is accessible by public transportation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit.
