Job Description:

Since 1997, The Community Foundation of Pulaski County has worked to engage leaders and residents throughout the community for the purpose of inspiring generosity and enriching the lives of all those who live in, and visit, Pulaski County, IN.

We currently seek a part-time OR full-time Program Officer to join our growing team! In this role, you will focus on the grantmaking processes, including the evaluation of grant inquiries and review of applications. You will also support community leadership initiatives resulting in the overall health and wellbeing of the nonprofit sector in Pulaski County.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Work Setting: Primarily In-Office

Responsibilities:

Grantmaking

  • Reviews grant proposals.
  • Consistently communicates with grant-seekers and grantees.
  • Ensures that all proposed grantees meet appropriate legal standards and provides appropriate documentation.
  • Collaborates with staff and board of directors in all aspects of grantmaking.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation to grant seeks and makers, and makes introductions as appropriate, in support of the nonprofit sector.

Community Leadership

  • Supports Executive Director on community leadership initiatives.
  • Builds community goodwill and furthers the Community Foundation mission.
  • Serves as the initial knowledge-broker for charitable organizations providing connections to resources within and outside of the Community Foundation.
  • Provides responsive and proactive support to the nonprofit sector (staff and board members) through individualized conversations and meetings.
  • Works with organizational partners, knowledgeable about community issues and initiatives.

Foundation Programming

  • Collaborates with Executive Director to develop, implement, and facilitate nonprofit sector strengthening programming.
  • Collaborates with Executive Director to develop, implement, and facilitate donor development programming.
  • Facilitates the development and cultivation of funding and partners to support capacity building program delivery.
  • Researches and maintains knowledge base of local, regional and national promising practices and strategies for nonprofit capacity building and builds relationships throughout the county and beyond to support the local sector utilizing resources.

Other

  • Provides clear and effective communication to Community Foundation staff, interns, and volunteers in order to execute on key functions.
  • Represents the Community Foundation at community functions, as directed. Represents the Community Foundation and its priorities in the community through collaboration, conferences, site visits, and engagement with philanthropic partners. Promotes nonprofit/philanthropic sector interests.
  • Other duties as assigned, as they relate to programming and/or community engagement activities.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Program/project or grant management experience desired with knowledge of the local nonprofit sector and existing community initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with technological skills and software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter with exceptional organizational and a professional demeanor.
