Learn more about us: JOB LOCATION Duke South Clinics - 40 Duke Medicine Circle JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a Program Specialist under direction of the Vice Chair and Director of Surgical Pathology, this position has oversight of QI/QA, recredentialing, and Duke Cancer Network (DCN): Analyzes data to evaluate performance in quality improvement; Analyzes and implements quality improvement activities to increase compliance rates as measured by nationally standardized benchmarks and definitions; Assists the departmental Quality Improvement representative with data reporting; Assists the departmental Duke Cancer Network representative with data reporting; Leads and participates in special projects, as directed; and performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes data in order to evaluate performance in quality improvement, with duties including but not limited to: - Creating and providing statistical reports to Duke Health System's Credentialing Verification Office, Duke Medicine and Duke Cancer Network affiliates participating in external QI/Peer Review;
- Providing documentation for QA/QI activities.
- Performing computer-based statistical analysis of data related to the Quality Improvement (QI) program;
- Collecting data from a variety of resources including sources internal and external to Duke Medicine, analyzing data and drafting summary reports;
- Monitoring and ensuring the validity of data;
- Utilizing various programs to generate, manipulate and analyze data;
- Evaluating reports for accuracy of data;
- Performing analysis to determine statistically significant trends in data compared to industry standards and recognized benchmarks;
Assists the Quality Manager with healthcare data information reporting, with duties including but not limited to: - Collecting and maintaining physician data;
- Working with Pathologists' Assistant students on a variety of QI reporting activities
- Collaborating with Duke Health System's Credentialing Verification Office, Duke Medicine and Duke Cancer Network affiliates regarding joint activities and reporting.
Leads and participates in special projects, as directed. JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS - Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program with one year of experience in program administration or event production.
- OR two years of postsecondary education with three years of experience in program administration or event production.
- OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Working knowledge of the principles and methods of Anatomic Pathology Quality Improvement methodology, statistical analysis and report design helpful;
- Working knowledge of Anatomic Pathology Quality Improvement reporting helpful;
- Working knowledge and understanding of relational databases;
- Working knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Windows based PC system and a range of software packages, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Some knowledge of Duke Medicine managed healthcare;
- Some knowledge of College of American Pathologists' regulations;
- Ability to evaluate health care data;
- Ability to plan, organize and lead data collection activities;
- Ability to resolve simple and/or complex analytical problems;
- Ability to present statistical data in a clear and understandable manner;
- Ability to effectively facilitate and coordinate the work or a workgroup engaged in quality improvement activities;
- Ability to work collaboratively across complex healthcare organizations;
- Ability to organize projects with patient reports and large numbers of surgical slides;
- Familiarity/Proficiency in working with Maestro Care/Epic/Beaker and Duke Business Objects programs
JOB HOURS The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Our offices are staffed from 7:30a - 5:30p so the applicant would work an 8-hour shift within that window.
