Job Description:
Position Summary

Under direct supervision, the Program Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of community prevention and family strengthening programs, including but not limited to life skills, out-of-wedlock pregnancy prevention, family formation, cultural activities, parenting, and positive youth development activities for Washoe Native TANF Program (WNTP) and WNTP “Other Eligible” participants. The Program Specialist will train and assist staff and community members with Project Proposals, planning, and tracking outcomes. Ensures program compliance with the approved Tribal Family Assistance Plan; State and Federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures specific to Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Assistance. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field and two years of experience developing, monitoring, or evaluating community events and/or events for TANF services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hiring preference is provided to members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the PL101.630-Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act. Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California requires any designated candidate to complete a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and must possess a valid NV or CA driver license within thirty (30) days of employment (when applicable) and PL 101-630 Criminal/Character Investigation background check.
