We strive to deliver on this promise every day. The Accounting Department at AKRF is seeking a Project Accountant to work in their New York City Office. Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform project setup, including establishing project codes, budgets, and cost centers.
  • Prepare project billing and invoicing, including verifying billable items, rates, and contract terms.
  • Conduct regular project cost and revenue reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist in developing project budgets and forecasts, ongoing add-service requests and collaborating with project teams at all levels.
  • Analyze project variances and provide causes for variances and insightful solutions to capture variance or prevent potential variances
  • Hold regularly scheduled project review meetings with Project Managers to ensure project efficiency, manage potential project overruns and potential Add-Scope Services.
  • Create & Provide ad-hoc reporting for Finance Managers, Project Managers and Senior Managers.
  • Ensure compliance with project-related contractual obligations, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Build long-term working relationships with Clients to assist in answering questions, support and collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project accounting records for audit purposes.
  • Maintain the main contact information, updated COIs, and current company information if needed.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project accounting, corporate accounting, or related roles.
  • Solid understanding of project accounting principles, revenue recognition, and cost control.
  • Experience in AEC Industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations, compliance, and auditing standards is preferred.
  • Experience in the engineering, construction, or professional services industry is a plus.
