Job Description:
PRICE ELECTRIC is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support construction project teams with contract accounting setup, compliance, modifications, payments, purchasing, reporting and analysis. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer at the corporate office in Robins, IA, the Project Accountant will manage accounting responsibilities for assigned projects and work closely with Project Managers to maintain project financials. This new position is immersed in broad construction accounting responsibilities and has great career growth opportunity as the company continues to grow nationally. Primary responsibilities:
  • Understand AIA Contract Documents and compliance requirements for assigned projects.
  • Ensure the project's financials, including billing and revenue, are set up correctly to comply with the project's contract requirements.
  • Prepare billings to customers based on contract terms and post billings timely and accurately.
  • Monitor project expenditures, material expenses, billing, and income and provide regular updates.
  • Assist project teams with their accounting questions, documentation needs and processes such as WIP, purchasing, change orders and Payapps.
  • Participate in various project meetings.
  • Enter Subcontractor agreements and assist with accuracy and timeliness of billing and posting.
  • Monitor accounts receivable status and assists with collection as needed.
  • Generate various reports such as contract status, job cost, and budget variance and analyze project earnings.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies and internal controls, and regulatory requirements related to project accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
To knowledgably and effectively perform job responsibilities, qualified candidates must possess the successful equivalent of a bachelor's degree in accounting or applicable business major and at least two years of cost accounting experience. Construction project accounting experience is strongly preferred.Additional qualifications include:
  • Advanced accounting software and Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Analytical skills and a commitment to continuous process improvement to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and solve issues
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a business team environment with strong interaction and communication skills
  • Data-driven mindset and systematic in approach
  • Strong organization and time management to manage multiple projects
