Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in human services. Minimum two years' work experience with educationally at-risk high school students and their parents in an educational setting.
* Significant experience developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of social, cultural, and career enrichment programming for groups.
* Working knowledge of current Michigan curriculum & graduation requirements, FAFSA process, & administering and interpreting career inventories.
* Functional computer software manipulation skills.
* Time flexibility: must stay on campus as needed during the annual 6-week Summer Academy, work some weekends and evenings, and travel 4-6 times each year.
* Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Must be able to apply diplomacy in interpersonal exchanges and effectively communicate with clientele, the public, supervisor, team members, and other colleagues.
* Valid vehicle operator's license and a driving record acceptable to the university.

Desired Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Counseling.
* Ability to apply Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution techniques and train others to do same.
* Supervisory, training, and mentoring experience.
* Familiarity with and/or experience working in TRiO.
* Experience teaching group guidance classes.
* Fluent bilingual communication ability (English/Spanish).

Position Details Position Purpose
Generate the required number of eligible and qualified Project participants annually and implement strategies to retain participants. Make needs assessments (and agency referrals as needed) providing guidance for establishing goals and monitoring the achievement of goals that address assessed needs. Supply academic, college admission, financial aid, and career advising to facilitate college entry and retention. Provide administrative support for academic, social, cultural, career, and other educational programming consistent with the objectives of the funded proposal. Facilitate the federal mandates for participant financial literacy and alumni tracking.
