Job DescriptionAPCO is looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic Project Assistant who is fluent in Brazilian Portuguese to join our Latin America team at the Office of the Executive Chairman (OXC). OXC supports our founder and chairman, Margery Kraus, on a range of new business proposals, client deliverables, and thought leadership content. Our team is dynamic, fast-paced, and consistently operates at a global level. The project assistant will support our international communication, public affairs and government relations efforts by conducting research, preparing reports, developing stakeholder maps, and assisting with various projects. The project assistant will also be responsible for monitoring issues, policy, and media in Latin America as well as drafting high-level content in both English and Brazilian Portuguese. The ideal candidate will also have a strong interest in Latin American geopolitics and global events. Although most of the work will consist of assisting with Latin America-related requests, the project assistant will have the opportunity to explore other areas and support other teams across APCO.This position may sit in our Washington DC or New York office.Primary responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis on issues related to clients in Latin America.
  • Monitor media and report on policy developments, events, and other relevant topics across the region.
  • Analyze regional and country-specific policy in sectors including healthcare, trade, technology, and more.
  • Draft briefs for new business opportunities and assist in the development of client proposals.
  • Develop first draft of memos, presentations, and talking points.
  • Edit and proofread client deliverables, working closely with interns and other colleagues.
Qualifications:
  • Fluent in written and spoken Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish is desired.
  • At least 1 year of experience (including internships) in public affairs, international relations, communication, policy, sustainability, or advocacy work.
  • Experience studying or working in a Portuguese-speaking country is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and attentive to detail.
  • Applicants are expected to take initiative, have excellent writing skills and experience successfully balancing multiple tasks.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365.
Compensation RangeThe US base salary for this position ranges from $45,000/year to $48,000/year. Our compensation range for this role is inclusive of several US geographic markets.
