Position Type: Full TimeLevel: Entry-level to Mid-levelLocation: Baileyville, Maine (must reside within Washington County, Maine)We are looking to bring on board a Project Assistant to provide operational and implementation support to the Maine Community Connections Center (MCCC) initiative in Washington County. The Project Assistant will conduct community outreach, recruit collaborating partners, volunteers, and community members to participate in MCCC activities and work groups. The successful candidate will be outgoing, have excellent organizational and relational skills, have lived or worked in the project service area for at least five years, and have strong existing ties to people in the area. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a diverse public health team focused on growing our impact while building local capacity to support health and wellbeing.Job duties:
- Assure that administrative support for meetings of the MCCCs such as meeting space, recording of minutes, and public notices are in place.
- Continue development of plans and procedures that support the mission of the Maine Community Connections Centers initiative in Washington County, such as communication, participation in assessment and planning initiatives, and processes necessary to the leadership and stakeholder committees.
- Continue developing and supporting multi-sector participants in substance use prevention committee and prepare community for anticipated future funding through SAMHSA
- Meet and communicate often with the Baileyville Town Manager, Superintendent of AOS90, and town council members in other towns who send their students to schools in AOS 90.
- Reach out to new potential partners and collaborators in communities between Baileyville and Danforth.
- Participate in and help coordinate other individuals to implement the MCCC project in collaboration with multiple local and regional partners.
- Manage ongoing project deliverables and maintain project management documentation
- Draft project reports for review by supervisor and submission to partners and funders
- Serve as the point of contact for MCCC project in Washington County
- Coordinate and/or procure technical assistance needed by volunteers and partners in order to assure that initiatives are using evidence-based prevention, early intervention, and services.
Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:
- College degree or Associate's degree and five years of experience in public health or related field.
- Experience with community engagement and community organizing preferred.
- Prior experience with substance use prevention is preferred.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, supervising and evaluating country teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
