Job Description:
The Project Controls Manager for Solar Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of project controls for solar energy construction projects. This role will focus on scheduling, cost management, risk management, and performance reporting to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project controls within the construction or renewable energy industry, with specific experience in solar energy projects.Key Responsibilities:Project Planning & Scheduling:Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for solar construction projects using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop realistic project timelines and milestones.Track and report progress on project schedules, identify any potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.Monitor project activities and resource allocations to ensure timely project delivery.Cost Management:Oversee project cost control and budgeting, ensuring alignment with the approved project baseline.Prepare cost estimates and financial forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.Monitor project expenditures and assess variances, identifying and investigating any cost overruns or budget discrepancies.Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly cost performance reports (CPR) and earned value management (EVM).Provide input into value engineering efforts to minimize costs without compromising quality.Risk Management:Lead the risk management process, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks that could impact project performance.Develop and implement risk management strategies, including contingency planning and risk reporting.Monitor risk throughout the project and adjust project plans as necessary to minimize impact.Reporting & Documentation:Prepare and deliver regular project controls reports, including cost, schedule, and performance reports, to senior management and stakeholders.Provide early warnings for potential issues or risks, including cost overruns or schedule delays.Ensure proper documentation and tracking of change orders, variations, and contract amendments.Coordinate the collection and analysis of project data, preparing both qualitative and quantitative reports to aid decision-making.Collaboration & Communication:Work closely with the project team, including project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and subcontractors, to ensure effective communication of project status and progress.Act as the liaison between project controls and other departments, ensuring that all teams are aligned on project goals, timelines, and budget constraints.Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and ensure that all issues and concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately.Continuous Improvement:Develop and maintain best practices for project controls processes and procedures.Identify opportunities for process improvements, increased efficiency, and cost savings.Stay current with industry trends, standards, and technologies related to solar construction and project controls.Qualifications & Requirements:Education:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. PMP, AACE, or similar certifications are highly preferred.Experience:Minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls, with at least 3 years in the solar construction industry or a related field.Skills:Expertise in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).Strong knowledge of cost control and financial forecasting tools and techniques.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, particularly solar power systems.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Experience:Previous experience with large-scale utility solar projects.Knowledge of solar industry-specific codes, standards, and regulations.Experience working with integrated project management software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.#J-18808-Ljbffr
