Job Description

Reporting directly to OID's Director of Communications and Marketing, the Project Coordinator will work with the director on initiatives assigned to the communications team and high-level OID events. Responsibilities include management of the OID Comms production calendar and preparation for meetings and presentations with cross-department/campus teams. Projects will include the Future Faculty Diversity Program (FFDP), the Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference (FWCA), the Black College Institute (BCI), the InclusiveVT commitment, signature departmental events, and other programs as assigned. The Project Coordinator may work on developing contact rosters, conduct web searches, build databases, write briefs on subjects supporting the comms team's work, draft emails and correspondences, and develop forms and approval processes as needed. The Project Coordinator will be able to work independently, be a self-starter, maintain contact with the director, maintain confidentiality, and provide timely updates and communication on projects.
The Project Manager will collaborate with others on the OID and central Communications teams to ensure relationships are being maintained and grown appropriately. The Project Manager will serve as the primary contact for project coordination and delivery of assets. Familiarity with SharePoint and Adobe Campaign is a plus.
The position is based at the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent training and/or professional experience
Extensive organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and community partners
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity and belonging
Ability to confidentially work with sensitive data and information
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education, strategic planning, and/or project management
Understanding of marketing and marketing campaign deliverables
Familiarity with working with VT campus stakeholders and partners
Working knowledge of tools like Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Google Forms, among others
