Develops and coordinates project plans through full implementation.Job DescriptionThe Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Project Coordinator to join an NIH-funded interdisciplinary research project focused on social media use and mental health of adolescents from racially/ethnically minoritized backgrounds (Project Number 1R01MH136979-01).Led by Dr. Jun Wang ( this project will employ advanced research methods to explore how social media experiences and mental health evolve and influence each other across daily to yearly timeframes. The ultimate goal of the project is to promote positive development among youth through healthy use of social media while minimizing its potential harm.Essential Duties:* Make connections with community partners (e.g., schools, school districts, youth-serving organizations) for establishing collaborative research partnerships.* Process all paperwork necessary to establish research partnerships with community (e.g., external research applications).* Assist in the design of research surveys, focus and interview protocols, and other relevant documentation.* Assist with completing IRB applications.* Coordinate various research projects.* Orient and train new staff or students.* Assist with translating relevant research documents from English into different languages (e.g., Spanish) and vice versa.* Assist with conducting interviews/focus groups, administering surveys, and gathering app-based data from participants' smartphones.* Pending qualifications may assist with conducting statistical analyses.* Assist the PI with all phases of the research process (e.g. conducting literature reviews, developing research proposals, collecting and analyzing data, entering data).Other duties as required.Required Education and Experience:* B.A. in an applied social science field (e.g., psychology, public health, social work).* Three years of related experience in project coordination/administration.Preferred Experience:* Work or service experiences with youth and families from racial/ethnic minority and/or immigrant backgrounds.Required Special Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:* Attention to detail.* Strong time management skills.* Excellent organizational skills.* Strong communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple projects.* Interest in applied research.* Strong problem-solving skills.* General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.* Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.Preferred Special Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:* Experience with forming community research partnerships.* Ability to engage youth, families, and community partners from minoritized backgrounds in research projects.* Familiarity with College Station, Houston, Austin, and similar Texas communities.* Experience in coordinating research projects and assisting with the execution of applied research projects.* Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.* Ability to supervise and manage research associates.This is a grant funded position.All positions are security-sensitive.
