Description Position Title: Project Coordinator II-Quality Improvement-Institute for Advanced Medicine-AIDS Center-Greenwich Village Clinic-Mount Sinai Hospital-Full Time-Days Job Summary: The Project Coordinator II assists in creating and executing plans for complex projects which fall outside the regular operations of the department. The Project Coordinator II follows projects through all phases including development of the project plan, ensuring adherence to the plan. The Project Coordinator II also has oversight of the project budget. A Project by definition must have a timeline with a beginning and end date. The Institute for Advanced Medicine (IAM) is seeking a Quality Improvement Project Coordinator to lead and coordinate key improvement initiatives across the IAM. This role is central to advancing Mount Sinai Health System's continuous improvement culture, particularly in achieving high-quality outcomes for HIV/AIDS care, transgender health services, value-based care metrics, and other evidence-based improvement measures. This position is part of an innovative and growing department committed to improving clinical and patient outcomes through evidence-based services, with a strong focus on supporting health centers in providing high-quality care. The work is data-driven, evidence-based, and grounded in QI principles, seeking efficient solutions to systemic healthcare challenges for vulnerable populations. The Quality Improvement Project Coordinator, reporting directly to the Health Systems & Process Improvement Manager, will leverage a wide range of improvement tools and methodologies to plan, manage, and evaluate various initiatives. Responsibilities Design and implement both basic and moderately complex project activities and ensure the quality, timeliness, and integrity of ongoing projects and schedules aimed at enhancing clinical performance. Projects are often within the context of quality improvement, clinical operations, and value-based care initiatives. Develop and maintain action plans, timelines, and track deliverables to ensure successful implementation of initiatives and address areas of non-compliance or underperformance. Ensures that assignments are completed to support project success. Coordinates and leads assigned project activities, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and implements evidence-based interventions to enhance care delivery. Leads and facilitates project-related meetings, including creating agendas and preparation of meeting materials. Prepares and/or edits meeting minutes, presentations, and tables to support the project's goals. Maintains detailed records and documentation of project activity and monitors performance metrics in order to provide ongoing support and guidance to staff in the implementation of quality improvement projects. Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and operational data to identify areas for improvement. Generate and disseminate regular reports on quality metrics and outcomes to key stakeholders. Tracks project changes and provides feedback to communicate project findings as appropriate. Monitors project deliverables and timelines, notifies management when issues arise, and takes corrective actions as needed. Develops test scenarios if applicable to the position, project, or department. Responsible for communication with outside contractors and/or vendors and consultants as required by the project. Utilize quality improvement tools and techniques, such as PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycles, Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis. Performs other related duties. Qualifications Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience Requirements: 3 years of experience with healthcare operations Experience with community health care and primary care Experience with quality measurement Experience with various QI principles and approaches (e.g., Model for Improvement, Breakthrough Model, Lean) Proven experience with project management, in particular, demonstration of ability to organize various activities and goals, manage multiple projects simultaneously, plan strategically, and see projects through to completion Effective analytical and problem-solving experience, with the ability to quickly gather information (quantitative and qualitative), identify trends, and propose solutions Computer Skills: High degree of proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with Visio, Tableau, or Access experience a plus.
