The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.Position Summary Information Job Description Summary In the SEACR Lab, we are committed to investigating how systemic barriers and structures in STEM have contributed to inequities and exclusionary practices that continue to harm minoritized groups. We have recently been awarded an NSF BIO-LEAPS grant to help Biology professional societies change their underlying cultural norms to advance inclusion at their conferences and in their journals. This award is a collaboration between Chapman University (lead institution, PI Dr. Richelle Tanner) and Colorado State University (co-PI Dr. Kate Wilsterman). We are searching for an enthusiastic and outgoing project coordinator to help facilitate communication and grant resource management among the professional societies participating in this project. The ideal candidate will have some experience attending scientific conferences and corresponding with faculty members in a group setting and a strong interest in equity research and implementation. This 14-month position starting in January 2025 is compensated at an hourly rate of $26.50.Responsibilities
- Scheduling meetings, workshops, and travel details for PI, co-PI, and participating professional societies
- Drafting reports in collaboration with other team members (may include data mining of online resources)
- Complete budget-related requests and reporting (e.g., Concur, purchase orders, reimbursements)
- Attending meetings, workshops, and conferences
- Co-leading logistics meetings with participating professional societies
- Ensure the project team is organized to maintain the proposed timeline and deliverable requirements
- Participate in survey development and data analyses with other team members
- Coordination of other grant activities, including focus group cohorts at participating professional societies
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or STEM Education
- Experience attending scientific conferences in a STEM discipline
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact and work collaboratively
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with Concur, Zoom, and/or Microsoft Suite software
- Basic quantitative data analysis skills using Excel and/or R
- Experience with public outreach Willingness to travel for work
- Quantitative and qualitative report writing
- Conceptual background in diversity, equity, and inclusion literature
