The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking to fill a full-time Project Coordinator position with the Center for Diversion from Incarceration for Individuals with Serious Mental Illness in New York State.
The Diversion Center mission is to support jurisdictions in the development, implementation, evaluation and replication of initiatives to the reduce arrest and incarceration of persons with serious mental illness (SMI). The general services provided by The Diversion Center are the assessment of local resources, current practices, and gaps in services through sequential intercept mapping; researching, training and technical assistance for the identification and diversion of justice-involved mentally ill from incarceration; and researching, training and technical assistance to develop and sustain CIT programs in communities throughout NYS. The Diversion Center is located within OMH Division of Forensic Services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide guidance to the Diversion Center team on community mental health practices
* Assist in the development of surveys related to policies, practices, and programs affecting justice-involved persons with serious mental illness
* Assist in the development of data bases to measure the prevalence of diversion of justice-involved persons with serious mental illnesses across sequential intercept points in communities throughout NYS
* Assist in sequential intercept mapping and other assessment activities to assist local government units in planning and implementing diversion programming for justice-involved persons with serious mental illness
* Conduct literature reviews to develop research reports on diversion practices within New York State and evidence-based diversion programs (EDPs)
* Engage local community stakeholders in the development and/or enhancement of jail diversion efforts
* Assist in development of grant applications to pilot new EDPs in local communities
* Prepare written reports on jail diversion efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in psychology, forensic psychology, social work, mental health counseling, forensic mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, criminal justice or related field and two years of full-time work experience; OR
* A master's degree in psychology, forensic psychology, social work, mental health counseling, forensic mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, criminal justice or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with the sequential intercept mapping;
* Use and knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization software;
* Experience with conducting reviews of scientific literature, scientific writing, publication and presentations; and
* Experience with community mental health and/or criminal justice diversion programs.
