Job Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Student Support Initiatives, the Director, TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO SSS ) oversees program planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of the TRiO Student Support Services Program. TRiO SSS is dedicated to empowering low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities to succeed in college and beyond. As Director, you'll drive initiatives that boost student retention, graduation rates, and transfer success by ensuring TRiO students have access to academic advising, counseling, and development programs while championing cultural activities, workshops, and internships. You'll also expand opportunities for scholarships, grants, and international study, building a community that supports student success and growth. The Director designs, implements, and supervises all activities, courses and programs in accordance with the project goals and objectives. The Project Director is responsible for all federal grant writing, reports and updates as they relate to the functioning of the grant, and ensuring the grant adheres to compliance components. The Project Director also manages a small caseload of students, utilizing STARFISH for tracking and data collection. The director oversees the day to day services provided to students via program and College resources. This is a grant-funded position. Specific Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, and maintain descriptive data on student enrollment in the TRiO SSS program.
  • Monitor cohort tracking via Starfish and Banner Systems and facilitate data collection needed to produce required reports.
  • Develop materials and publicize program to students and college community.
  • Authorize the purchase of instructional, tutorial, and other learning materials for the program.
  • Assure coordination of project activities with appropriate departments including financial aid, academic affairs, computer center, institutional research, admissions, student affairs, etc.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate recruitment sessions and student orientations.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate summer bridge program.
  • Write annual report to United States Department of Education.
  • Maintain a limited caseload of students for 2x monthly check-ins to confirm participation and progress of student success goals.
  • Manage and support employee performance and development to ensure alignment with organizational/program goals and objectives.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate staff in-service training sessions.
  • Identify, determine eligibility, and select project participants.
  • Document student eligibility as required by Federal guidelines.
  • Monitor participant progress and coordinate academic intervention and probation programs.
  • Inform College administrators and faculty on program goals and objectives.
  • Serve on College committees.
  • Manage budget, personnel, and inventories of equipment.
  • Evaluate and document the overall needs assessments of participants.
  • Recommend best practices on policies and procedures.
  • Manage internal communications and foster strategic partnerships across the College.
  • Attend appropriate conferences and workshops on- and off-campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Any degree(s) must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant work experience in managing programs that serve the needs of disadvantaged students.
  • Budget management experience is strongly required.
  • Previous supervisory experience and demonstrated evidence of strong leadership and management skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Must possess the ability to engage in data analysis, and strategic projections and to incorporate other strategies to impact the overall management and student success goals in relation to TRiO required.
  • Student outreach experience and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of students, parents, and other internal and external constituents is required, as is a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across departments and with all constituent groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage spreadsheets and databases and to utilize data to make informed decisions required.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented with an emphasis on excellence in student service.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) via all media (phone, face-to-face, email, text, and live chat) is required to effectively interact with students, the general public, College staff, and faculty required.
  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff and students is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree preferred.
