Job Description - Project EngineerSummary ObjectiveThe Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the successful planning, coordination, and execution of lighting and lighting control projects. This role ensures that technical aspects of projects are managed effectively, timelines are met, and quality standards are upheld. The Project Engineer works closely with project estimators, project managers, project directors, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication, problem-solving, and seamless project delivery.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lighting and lighting controls desired.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as an estimator or project manager in a related field.
- Experience with construction drawings, specifications, architectural sketches, and other related construction documents a plus.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office/Excel/Outlook/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Bluebeam) and have well developed time scheduling and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Responsibilities (essential functions)
- Review and analyze all project-related drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with manufacturer price quotes and Weltmann Lighting proposals.
- Assemble and organize job folders, collaborating with Project Coordinators to ensure all necessary documents are maintained and up to date for each project.
- Generate and process Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify project details or resolve any issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and export purchase orders, documenting all fixture details and sketches, and ensuring timely and accurate order processing.
- Perform fixture mapping and create field dimension worksheets, coordinating with site teams to obtain accurate measurements for creating released purchase orders.
- Provide technical support to the project team, ensuring that all engineering aspects meet project requirements and addressing any technical issues with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Communicate with specifiers, contractors, and end users to thoroughly assess the project requirements.
- Maintain organized project documentation including drawings, specifications, and other relevant records.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends and developments in the lighting industry, including new products and technologies.
