This position is responsible for working with purchasing and manufacturing on issues related to materials and production, and with sales to provide technical assistance to customers. Project Engineers are hands-on at The Lee Company as they are fully engaged in the prototyping, testing, and analysis of new products.Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
- Strong mechanical inclination and a desire to pursue design engineering.
- A desire to learn about new developments in the engineering field and an interest in following that progress through trade shows, professional texts, technical papers, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering duties and assignments that include product development, product support, and sales support.
- Analyze and interpret engineering data submitted for new products and for modifications affecting standard products. Modify designs using standard engineering practice to effect improvements and meet customer requirements.
- Instruct design and drafting personnel in the preparation of drawings, calculations, and specifications. Ensure accuracy of designs, dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, etc.
- Work with manufacturing to methodize production operations, tooling requirements, the feasibility of manufacture or sub-contracting, labor, and material cost estimates, etc.
- Confer with the Sales Department to assist in answering product-related technical questions.
- Oversee the construction, assembly, and testing of newly developed products. Devise test set-ups and evaluate test data.
