Job Description:
As Project Engineer I, your mission is to be an integral player in the development of new products that conform to all aspects of product objectives including performance and return on investment. Utilize your Engineering skills to develop products with powerful customer impact. Use your creative thinking and ambition to drive solutions for our customers with commitment, innovation, and interaction with a focus on quality, delivery, and cost.
Leadership:
Lead project teams on collaboration activities for your respective product development initiatives.
Guide and lead part designers who will assist you in the attainment of project goals.
New Product Development:
Follow to the letter the Concept to Product (C to P) gated new product development process.
Create and maintain 3D master assembly models of your products using client's drawing methods and standards using Inventor & Autodesk Vault drawing/PDM platforms.
Create and maintain detailed 2D component drawings with all required information using proper client dimensioning techniques, welding symbology, material callouts and part marking.
Create and maintain product bills of material as they relate to your product/project.
Develop in full any product options that relate to your product/project.
Identify ALL critical assembly operations and provide necessary assembly torqueing information on system commodity drawings to relay important assembly details to production.
Create and maintain engineering related instructions for electrical Panels, system test reports, and product release checklists.
Assembly of prototypes for your products in development as necessary.
Initiate and support the development of all product documentation that can include:
Instruction Books (AIB) and Spare Parts Books (ASL) per client's standards.
Dimension drawings (AHB) for ALL product variants.
Documentation of product data (AML).
Service requirements (develop/release of consumable service packs).
Creation of Product Configuration/Options Matrix (PCT) files.
Development and release of wiring schematics where required.
Initiate and maintain project related information for NPD projects. This includes maintaining monthly the following:
Project Timing/Project Risk Assessment
Project Budget/Current PK/PCM Actions and Decisions/Result Plan
Sprint efficiency
Assist your manager with input related to PCM presentations regarding your project(s).
Be solely responsible for the content of the technical file and the documentation of the closure of gate phases
Be the driving force behind the Project Team Meetings.
Calculate the cost of the product that you are developing monthly to maintain target.
Follow and monitor the budget of your project and raise awareness of deviations if they occur.
Perform numerical calculations that support the design integrity of your products.
Assist with the inputs required for digital tools such as FEA analysis and CFD analysis as required.
Perform Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure component integrity and safety for the product as well as users.
Analyze your products for potential misuse.
Strive to maintain First Time Right (FTR) metric of greater than 90%
Strive for high reuse of existing components in new products to reduce cost, reduce risk and improve time to market.
Follow your project through to the end as an active member of the TCM and any field warranty issues that could arise from your projects.
