Job Description:

A well-respected heavy civil construction company specializing in the construction of roadways and bridges in the Mid-Atlantic Region is adding to their Infrastructure team. They are dedicated to the professional development of their team, and committed to delivering quality projects, on time, safely, and under budget to their clients. They are seeking a PROJECT ENGINEER with road and bridge project experience.

This role of a Project Engineer is to support roadway and bridge construction project teams. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Civil Engineering and have 2 years of experience working on DOT projects. This role involves coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, design, and execution of roadway and bridge construction projects.
  • Ensure projects compliance with DOT standards, specifications, and regulations.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to plans and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, documentation, and necessary approvals.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges promptly.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between all project participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction, specifically in roadways and bridges.
  • Proven experience working on DOT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT standards, specifications, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and technologies.
