Job Description:

Education, Training, & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, strongly emphasizing process engineering, production management, or similar functions.
  • Experience with PLC systems, Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting and acting upon complex production data.

Summary:

The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing production efficiency, driving process improvements, and supporting the introduction of new product lines. This role analyzes current production processes to identify improvement opportunities, supports new business development initiatives, and advances process capability through targeted training and technical guidance. The Project Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance in safety, quality, and production outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Enforce and monitor compliance with site safety regulations, ensuring a safe work environment in all production work cells.
  • Schedule and conduct safety training for all team members on new equipment and procedures, ensuring adherence to company and industry standards.

Production Data Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Propose, document, and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Train personnel on new process improvements, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent application across shifts.

Documentation & Standardization

  • Assist in developing, writing, and revising work procedures, instructions, and checklists for existing and new product lines, ensuring documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and user-friendly.
  • Establish and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for existing lines and create detailed, scalable documentation for new production processes.

Trial Planning & New Product Development

  • Plan, execute, and document trials on new production processes and business opportunities, coordinating closely with R&D and production teams.
  • Develop detailed plans for new line startups, ensuring timelines, resource allocation, and training requirements are met.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for new product lines and process improvement initiatives, fostering positive relationships and effectively communicating updates.

Equipment Management & Technical Support

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new equipment purchases to support process improvements and meet production demands.
  • Manage and maintain automated PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems, ensuring optimal functionality and supporting production needs.
  • Act as a technical advisor to maintenance departments, providing guidance on troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications to enhance equipment reliability.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

  • Collaborate with Production Managers and Material Planners to optimize production schedules, balancing efficiency with inventory and labor availability.
  • Work with Maintenance Technicians on issues relating to process improvements and equipment maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Assist Process Technicians as needed, providing technical insights and support for complex production challenges.

Project Leadership

  • Lead assigned projects, coordinating resources, managing timelines, and ensuring completion within scope and budget.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation and progress reports, communicating milestones and achievements to stakeholders.

Pricing, Yield, and Throughput

  • Contribute to the development of pricing worksheets, ensuring accurate cost estimates based on standard throughput, yield targets, and production efficiency.
  • Define standard throughput rates and yield expectations for new and existing products, setting performance benchmarks that align with organizational goals.

Resource Optimization

  • Manage and utilize excess equipment effectively, reallocating resources where needed to maximize production capabilities.

Continuous Improvement & Other Responsibilities

  • Actively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, adapting to evolving business needs and contributing to the overall success of the team.
