Our client, a leading shooting sports accessories manufacturer, is seeking a forward-thinking Project Engineer ll to join their team in their Denver metropolitan area offices.

Job Description:

The roles and responsibilities of the Project Engineer II include but are not limited, the management of new products through the research and definition, development, documentation, tooling development, asset procurement, manufacturing feasibility, first article testing and initial production launch phases. Directly interface with Product Managers for new product requirements definition. Oversight of the design aspects of projects with respect to product requirements. Coordination with the manufacturing team for seamless transition to continuing production after initial product launch. Maintaining project status notebooks for documentation, cost tracking and management team updates.

Additionally, the Project Engineer II adds value across the entire organization by understanding the business need of each project and making decisions on what may be best for the project, often challenging senior stakeholders to verify project success. This role must be a champion for continuous improvement and integrity within the organization.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Direct and manage project development process from concept through initial production validation phases.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of product requirements through technical expertise and coordinating across entire organization.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues and devise contingency plans.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Assist in the delegation of tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Escalating to management as appropriate.
  • Plan, schedule and track project dependencies, deliverables, critical path, timelines and milestones using provided tools.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Monitor and steer projects towards successful completion. This includes correcting the path of troubled projects so that they are successfully completed with minimal disruptions.
  • Mentor less-senior Project Engineers in areas of leadership, project management methodology, applicable tools, people skills and navigating office communications and relationships.

Engineering

  • Assist with feasibility studies for new product concepts including marketing requirements, technical oversight/research and patent research.
  • Serve as a primary technical conduit between Engineering and other departments.
  • Support company policies, procedures, goals, objectives and good design/manufacturing practices.
  • Champion projects that require interface with co-development partners.
  • Participate in supplier development initiatives and represent the companies interests when visiting current and potential future suppliers and partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 10%; both domestic and international.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college.
  • Design and/or Project Engineering experience with consumer products with 5+ years' experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven project management experience, including metric tracking, leadership and objective planning.
  • Industrial Design understanding and experience, including form factors, aesthetics and ergonomics.
  • Experience in mechanism and mechanical system design.
  • Experience with plastic injection molding.

Technical

  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of firearms and related systems.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects, SolidWorks, Moldflow.
  • Advanced experience in plastic injection molding methods, tooling, as well as other manufacturing methods.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and technical drawing methods.
