Project Scientist

Weaver Consultants Group, an environmental, civil and geotechnical engineering consulting firm, is seeking to expand our Environmental Practice Group in our Chicago office. We are seeking qualified, degreed professionals who will thrive in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking an entry/intermediate-level Staff/Project Scientist with experience in environmental field work and supporting report preparation. The qualified candidates must have 2 - 5 years of professional experience with the following environmental activities:

* ASTM Phase I and Phase II ESAs

* Familiarity with IEPA TACO

* IEPA LUST investigation and reporting activities

* IEPA SRP investigation and reporting activities

* Soil excavation oversight and confirmation sampling

* Conducting soil, groundwater, and soil-gas sampling

* Overseeing soil boring and monitoring well installation

* Document review and reporting including laboratory data analysis

* Preparation of groundwater elevation contour maps and geologic cross sections

* Statistical evaluation of various environmental monitoring data

Qualifications

* BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology or related field

* Strong technical writing skills

* Ability to travel 40-50% (primarily local), occasionally on short notice

* Strong Microsoft Office Word and Excel skills

* Valid Driver's License

* Must communicate effectively with team members, managers, subcontractors, and personnel on-site

* Able to work independently with limited guidance and detail-oriented

* Strong understanding of and commitment to health and safety protocols

* Willing to work outside, in a variety of climates, and be able to traverse tough terrain at times

* Willing to work at active industrial properties

* 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus

Integral to the position will be proficiency in review, interpretation, and application of local, federal, and state environmental regulations, as well as detailed standards from organizations such as ASTM. The qualified person would prepare the supporting reports associated with the above-listed activities in accordance with the applicable standards and agency regulations. The qualified person would work in a team environment with senior staff providing support/guidance/mentorship, as needed.
