Job Description:

Overview

The main function of this position is to provide marketing and execution work while providing support to the senior colleagues of the Latin America Project Finance team. Actively participate in the execution of PF transactions, structured finance and financial advisories in the infrastructure and telecom sector with oversight of senior colleagues. In addition to supporting senior colleagues in marketing and origination of new transactions, responsibilities also include direct marketing and origination of new transactions. Follow market trends, collect marketing intelligence and propose ideas to the team for new opportunities. Support and execute new deals, reviewing due diligence reports, coordinating processes with clients, advisors, other lenders and internal counterparties and provide guidance and training to junior colleagues.

Responsible for assisting with the origination of new project finance and structured finance transactions in Latin America within the credit and business guidelines established by the Bank. This includes cross-selling of products that enhance the return for the Bank, executing against the department strategy set forth by the Group Head and providing guidance and direction to junior members of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of project finance and structured finance transactions (including financial advisories) in Latin America with the oversight of the Group Head. Partner with product groups to enhance return through cross-sell opportunities.
  • Present the transaction internally, lead the preparation of credit applications for all new transactions, manage the credit process with the Credit Department and back office, perform any due diligence activities, negotiate documentation, etc.
  • Continuously monitor and manage existing transactions, including the review and processing of waivers and amendments, internal reports, special credit requirements, etc.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departments with overlapping clients in order to develop new business opportunities and enhance our position in the market.
  • Understand external regulatory matters and internal compliance and policies and procedures; pro actively escalate operational risk loss events to management as necessary.
  • To keep abreast of industry trends and developments and to expand network of client contacts.
  • Marketing and origination of new transactions by preparing pitch books and marketing materials and attending client meetings with senior colleagues.
  • Present research and analytics to Group Head that supports new business opportunities stay abreast of industry trends and current market conditions.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Relevant professional experience in a project finance team at a mid-sized or global bank. Hands-on experience with financial modelling, due diligence, negotiating term sheets and finance documentation, mitigating credit and other risks, and other related project finance activities. Experience analyzing and negotiating documentation for financing and investments.

Education:

  • Required: BA / BS
  • Preferred: MA / MS / MBA
  • Formal credit training preferred.

  • Business fluency in the following language(s):

  • Spanish fluency
  • Portuguese a plus
