Purpose:To work every day in a way that actively supports and accomplishes the Values, Mission and Vision of Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc.Objective: To provide engineering and technical services to all of Western's business units in order to maintain safe, efficient and profitable operations and further the goals put forth by Western management. Housekeeping is everyone's responsibility.Responsibilities:Design and develop layouts for plants, process units, and equipment. Design and develop Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and sequences of operations for processes.Ensure proper documentation of design elements for various projects according to good design principles and Western standardsResponsible for the generation, review, and modification of design drawings for processes, projects, and equipmentResponsible for the management of construction projects including buildings and equipment including but not limited to the bid process, selection of vendors, contract management, quality control, reconciliation of invoices, and approval of disbursementEvaluate new and existing processes for efficiency and feasibility and provide cost estimates on potential projects to management for use in capital expenditure decision making.Develop specifications for instrumentation and equipment and maintain/develop vendor relationshipsParticipate in the formulation, drafting, and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Management of Change (MOC) and other Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements to ensure all risks have been mitigatedResponsible for purchased inventory through utilization and ensuring an adequate inventory of commonly used items in Western processes for use in critical plant outages.Provide training to internal personnel on how to operate our automated processes and provide 24 hour on call technical support for all Western facilities.Design, develop, and troubleshoot process related code logic used in automating machinery and processes and design human to machine interfaces (HMIs) to allow plant operators to interact with the control systems.Evaluate quotations and receive orders from vendors to ensure accuracyPerform instrument calibration, verification and troubleshooting and provide support and instruction to other Western personnel as neededManage databases used in billing products produced in automated processes including writing queries to extract and compile data harvested by our automated processes and designing reports for management and operations to evaluate efficiencies and billing.Manage cross functional teams to execute work orders in support of projects.Interface with IT group to facilitate network and communication requirements as related to automated plant processes.Manage onsite vendors/contractors to ensure compliance with the Western Contractor Compliance ProgramEnsure projects are completed timely/on schedule and within budget requirementsTo actively participate in and seek out professional development opportunities as applicable to include active involvement with industry specific associations and regulatory agencies.Provide mentoring to newly hired engineers and/or internsDevelop and interpret electrical power and control schematics including grounding and area classification drawings.Define requirements of computer systems and software required to automate equipment and processes and to intermingle with existing hardware and software and then select or oversee their developmentPerform any other duties as assignedSpecific Requirements (training, education, certification)Degree in Automation/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or 7+ years of or applicable experienceKnowledge of Industrial Gasses preferred5+ years of successful control/automation project management preferredStrong understanding of computer programming and software development.Strong people skills, including management and negotiationKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced)Proven problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment and processesBasic knowledge of applicable standards and specificationsKnowledge of AUTOCAD and/or design software preferredKnowledge of Project Management Software preferredExperience with Visual Basic (VB), PLC's, data base management, and other automation controls preferredAbility to travelAdvanced computer networking experienceAbility to learn and understand overall work processesIntangiblesPatientDetail OrientedCommon SenseSmart/intelligentGood People SkillsAdvance planning skillsAbility to handle multiple projects at various stages at onceOpen-minded to be able to see other peoples viewpointsAble to take constructive criticismPersistentFriendlyMotivatedInnovative (Creative thinking skills)CommunicativeMethodical/StructuredLogicalPhysical RequirementsSit for extended periods of timeAbility to stand and monitor ongoing projects as needed for extended periodsAbility to carry on extended phone conversationsAble to work for extended periods of time using a computer, keyboard, and mouseStoop, stand, climb laddersManual dexterity (comment -
