The Commercial Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of commercial construction projects, from pre-construction through to final completion. Description
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Project Planning & Coordination: Develop and maintain project plans, including timelines, budget estimates, and resource allocation. Collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure project alignment.
- Budget Management: Create and manage detailed project budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities. Approve invoices and change orders to keep projects within financial targets.
- Schedule Management: Establish and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and address potential delays to keep projects on track. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and on-site readiness.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure all construction activities meet company and industry quality standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to maintain high-quality work.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate project teams, including subcontractors, site workers, and internal staff. Provide guidance and support, resolve conflicts, and ensure efficient team collaboration.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues. Ensure proper documentation and tracking of change orders and project modifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. Provide regular updates and status reports, addressing any client concerns and ensuring transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation, including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Prepare and review project reports for management and clients.
- Safety Management: Uphold a strong safety culture on the project site. Enforce safety procedures and conduct site safety meetings to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
Profile
The successful Project Manager will have:
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial construction project management or a related field, with proven experience managing large-scale construction projects.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus. OSHA 30-Hour Certification and First Aid/CPR certification are desirable.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial construction processes, cost estimation, contract management, and applicable building codes and regulations.
