The Energy PM will work on high-profile sustainability projects at local, national, and international levels, with opportunities to collaborate with major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and leading construction companies. This role requires a technically skilled team player who can conduct thorough reviews of project work and integrate seamlessly into a team of talented LVI Associates professionals.LVI Associates has completed over 500 LEED projects globally, leading the way in energy and materials innovation. The firm has been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception and has contributed to numerous pioneering projects, including the first net-zero building in the U.S., the first environmental high-rise residences, and the first environmental office towers. LVI Associates' project types include office buildings, multi-family residential (mid- and high-rise), assembly spaces, natatoriums, and art galleries, with typical project sizes ranging from 100,000 to 2 million square feet.Other general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Conduct energy modeling by examining field conditions and design documents to represent relevant details in the model.Perform advanced energy modeling analysis for high-rise commercial and residential buildings, primarily using DOE 2.2 or Energy Plus in accordance with ASHRAE Standards.Model building HVAC systems, including chilled water, hot water, DX, rooftop units, evaporative cooling, constant air, and variable air volume systems.Document modeling methods, assumptions, and results.Execute energy auditing, benchmarking, data gathering, and measurement & verification.Analyze energy savings and lifecycle costs of energy-saving measures related to building envelope, lighting, HVAC, plug loads, and building energy management systems.Perform engineering-based calculations in Excel.Develop and write reports detailing building components and recommending energy efficiency measures to enhance design and control in new and existing facilities.Conduct quality checks and quality assurance on tasks performed by team members.Provide feedback to project teams on cost-effective strategies for improving building energy performance and sustainability.Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, Physics, or Architecture.Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) accreditation is highly desirable, either upon joining or with plans to achieve in the near future.A minimum of three years of consulting experience in energy analysis for U.S.-based projects (note: university coursework does not meet this requirement).Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the New York State and NYC Energy Code.Familiarity with Passive House International (PHI) and/or Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) certification systems and relevant tools (e.g., PHPP, WUFI Passive) is highly desirable.Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.Proven project management abilities.Ability to engage effectively with external stakeholders (clients, design partners).Strong knowledge of energy efficiency in large, complex buildings.Proficiency in energy modeling software, DOE 2.2 or Energy Plus; primary IES knowledge may be acceptable if complemented by DOE 2.2 knowledge. Note: Experience with Train/Trace, Carrier/HAP, and/or eQuest is insufficient.Experience with architectural energy modeling using THERM, WUFI, and CFD software is a plus. Knowledge of architectural detailing and software platforms is helpful, but training will be provided if necessary.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.Basic skills in AutoCAD and Revit.Computer programming knowledge is a plus, as LVI Associates often utilizes and develops custom analysis tools.
