Our client offers general contracting services for commercial construction projects, specializing in food services, industrial, medical, and retail. This position requires a proactive, forward-thinking, and energetic person who is results-oriented and capable of professional and detailed follow-through.Responsibilities
- Determine the project deliverables and specifications, including the project scope, necessary project resources, and estimated labor needed by collaborating with clients, engineers, and sales.
- Calculate the cost estimate of all project tasks and accurately manage the project budget.
- Plan and schedule the entire project including engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation timelines to make sure project deadlines are met.
- Assist in the acquisition of appropriate licenses and permits from the corresponding authorities and ensure construction is up to code.
- Work with general contractors, critical subcontractors, and external vendors to negotiate profitable contracts.
- Communicate the status of the project to key stakeholders by providing regular progress reports.
- Put organizational systems into place to ensure tools and equipment are well-maintained, and schedule maintenance if needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related fields preferred.
- 5+ years of work experience in construction management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred, not required.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and the entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles.
- Will need to have experience working as or with a field superintendent, with knowledge of architectural, reinforcing, structural steel, and roofing.
- Experience using construction or project management software preferred.
- Strong communication skills, leadership skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and time-management skills.
- Prior management experience to visualize future needs to build a team.
