Position Overview: Carleton College's Division of Communications is seeking a full-time
Project Manager to join its highly collaborative creative team. The department develops communications strategies and produces multimedia marketing materials for student recruitment, special events, development and alumni relations, the president's office, and other campus clients. As an integral member of our team, the project manager will work closely with clients and creative staff members from original request through delivery to ensure a high-quality product and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will possess advanced verbal and written skills, analytical thinking, personal organization and interpersonal dynamics, and a clear understanding of marketing communications.
Responsibilities: - Serves as primary intake manager for college communications projects.
- Builds strong relationships with and serves as primary contact for clients to ensure that their needs and goals are being met.
- Completes detailed briefs and clarifies specific requirements of each project.
- Delegates project tasks to appropriate Division of Communications staff members, ensuring that projects are properly and efficiently staffed.
- Identifies problems and risks and develops plans to mitigate.
- Reviews and approves creative/production materials, copy, layouts, and production art, and coordinates client approval.
- Coordinates project timing, creates production schedules, and sets budgets.
- Solicits and reviews estimates and quotes from external vendors and freelancers; obtains approval from client.
- Stays apprised of progress of client projects through communication with internal staff and external vendors.
Essential Skills: Required:
- Five to ten years of project management experience, preferably working in a senior capacity.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Experience implementing and day-to-day management of project management platforms, such as Asana and TeamDynamix.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and work successfully with a diverse range of talents and personalities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with humor, tact, and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward work and clients.
- Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction.
- Strong organizational and communications skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in an education or nonprofit setting, project management certification a plus.
