The Project Manager will interface with unit operations, EHS, maintenance and other plant personnel and contractor resources to manage capital project activities in a safe, responsible and environmentally sound manner.
- BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with at least 7 years of project engineering or project management experience required
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience in unit operations in a PSM regulated chemical plant
- Developed skills in technical writing, oral communication, cost estimation, preparation of drawings, project planning, supervision of personnel, and computers (spreadsheets, CAD, etc)
- Familiar with a stage gate project process to manage capital project activities
- Experience in managing contractor relationships
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and SAP
- Ability to solve problems and present accurate solutions
Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned plant capital project activity, 20-40 projects usually with a $10MM+ spend a year
- Ensure projects are constructed according to specifications, budget and schedule. Oversight of 30+ contractors onsite to be expected
- Prepare bid packages and cost estimates for projects. Projects range from $50K to $4MM
- Reviews and approves designs and specifications
- For project related equipment, update equipment records and maintain accurate SAP Bill of Materials
- Ensure capital projects are designed and installed in compliance with all applicable Codes and Standards
- Perform Management of Change (MOC) for capital projects
Work schedule is 4 - 10 hour days (project may mandate you work some Fridays)
