Overview:
The Project Management Office seeks a Project Management Specialist to contribute to project management efforts on large-scale scientific research and development projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support principal investigators or project directors in facilitating and coordinating project activities, project reporting, sponsor communication, and other duties as assigned by project leadership.
* Work with project staff to develop and maintain schedules, cost estimates, assist with risk identification, and change control.
* Provide day-to-day support to the project with schedule and cost maintenance and status, and forecasting and assist in generating monthly reports on project status and performance;
* Perform ad-hoc activities as directed by the principal investigator or project director;
* Support the project management staff in preparing for various project reviews, including internal and external project status reviews.

Qualifications Required:
* BS/BA in project management, business, engineering or equivalent.
* Five (5) years of applicable experience.
* Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of working independently on complex tasks in support of team members.
* Possess advanced competence in Microsoft applications
Qualifications Desired:
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent.
* Possess a solid understanding of project management best practices and competence creating project schedules, performing resource loading, incorporating monthly status, and creating and maintaining the project baseline.
* Demonstrated ability of successful work in an interdisciplinary project environment and/or scientific collaboration that includes participants from academia, national laboratories, and other scientific organizations.
* Exceptional communications skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience.
* Experience working with senior level customers.
* Experience working on large and/or complex projects.
Federal Government Clearance:
This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required
