Job Description:

GW Mitchell Construction, a premier, quality conscious San Antonio based General Contractor is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team. Candidates with a passion for making things happen are encouraged to apply and join our team serving San Antonio and the surrounding area.

The Project Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of all resources required to plan, execute and complete construction projects on time and in-budget while meeting or exceeding standards and producing a high level of quality.

As a vital part of the Project Team, the Project Manager assists during pre-construction by assisting with the developing of relationships and implementing strategies for the future success of the project, team, and the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with preconstruction services/estimator
  • Assist with business development and participate in project interviews
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids and buy-out project
  • Supervise/review preparation of subcontracts
  • Prepare and maintain required project schedule
  • Review plans for completeness and accuracy
  • Cultivate respectful relationships with Owner, Architect and Subcontractors
  • Process monthly owner pay applications
  • Review contract conditions; ensure compliance with all contract terms
  • Manage job costs
  • Accountable for timely project schedule
  • Process RFI's and Submittals to maintain schedule and procurement schedule
  • Participate in monthly Month End Review Meetings (MER's)
  • Manage, train, encourage and supervise project team
  • Conduct meetings with project team and subcontractors
  • Supervise documentation of all significant project events, e.g., accidents, delays, change orders
  • Estimate, prepare and negotiate change orders
  • Ensure quality control is maintained
  • Avoid or mitigate claims and conflict
  • Confirm all job close-out requirements are met including as-builts
  • Coordinate obtaining permits & Certificates of Occupancy
  • Coordinate warranty follow-up and 1-year warranty walk

What we are looking for:

  • 5 to 7 years of construction experience or a college degree + 4 years of experience in construction
  • Preferred - some automotive dealership experience
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
  • Computer skills to include MS Office, Timberline, Procore and P6 preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and communication abilities
  • Solution oriented, problem solver with a team-oriented attitude
  • Able to manage multiple, competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
  • Positive attitude focused on customers and client needs
