Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee and manage engineering tasks and components for multiple projects. The ideal candidate will coordinate project activities, maintain consistent communication with clients and team members, and ensure that all projects are completed on time and according to specifications. This position will focus on maximizing efficiency, ensuring service quality, and driving customer satisfaction while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Engineering Tasks:
- Conduct code and design load requirement analysis.
- Prepare gravity and lateral element engineering designs.
- Design project-specific framing and foundation details.
- Create structural schedules for project-specific design elements.
- Check construction plans for completeness, accuracy, and conformity to engineering designs.
- Assist with preparing plans, performing calculations, and designing structural components.
- Back-check drafter mark-ups, address deficiencies, and assist the team in resolving structural design problems.
- Prepare technical documents including reports, response letters, and calculation packages.
- Revise documentation at various stages of the project, including plans, diagrams, and details.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, engineers, consultants, and client representatives to ensure compatibility with the design intent and drawing completeness.
- Act as the main point of contact for consultant and client coordination.
Client and Project Coordination:
- Maintain close business relationships with clients by answering questions, addressing issues, and resolving complaints promptly.
- Review consultant drawings for coordination and ensure they align with project goals.
- Make decisions regarding the construction process and project workload allocation.
- Implement standards and processes established by Engineering Managers across multiple projects.
- Attend and participate in project conference calls and coordination meetings, including out-of-town meetings if required.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Assist Construction Administration staff with questions related to projects during the construction phase.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Serve as a team lead to Project Engineers by providing supervision, training, motivation, and review of design work when applicable.
- Approve Paid Time Off (PTO), Work-from-home (WFH) days, and other leave requests.
- Assist Human Resources and/or Principals with employee relations matters, including dispute resolution, addressing performance issues, and administering disciplinary procedures in accordance with company policies.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Structural specialty is preferred).
Certifications & Licenses:
- Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certification required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Fundamental understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and tools/software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit software.
- Knowledge of material design manuals, industry design guides, and building codes.
- Experience performing mathematical calculations and identifying errors in calculations.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering design software.
