The UC Irvine School of Medicine's B3 DrivSim Lab and Program will lead The UC Traffic Safety Collaborative Project. The project will engage other UC campuses focused on behavioral and other traffic safety work establishing a new collaborative group. The new collaborative will begin development of a novel prevention program focused on reducing Teen Recurrent Driving After Drinking. Further, intimately woven into the UC Traffic Safety Collaborative Project, the UCI B3 DrivSim Lab will leverage its own leadership in their National Driving Simulation Consortium to expand its California traffic safety and prevention program work addressing motor vehicle crash-injury challenge areas with expertise in systematic injury prevention science frameworks, health behavior, engineering, public health, and driving simulation science. The project manager will manage a unique project comprised of UCI and other UC campus faculty, as well as community stakeholders focused on addressing California motor vehicle crash challenge areas to eliminate injuries and deaths on our roadways. The project manager will receive guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them. They will use their skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. The project manager will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. They will develop new successful approaches and procedures within the overall program for possible implementation. While they will be in charge of an area of work, and typically formulate program approaches and procedures for this area, they may not necessarily have final approval authority.
