Job Description:
Job Overview: The Project Manager / Program Manager specializing in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation projects will be responsible for leading and overseeing the successful execution of multiple electrical infrastructure projects. This role involves managing all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale T&D and substation projects, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
  • Project/Program Leadership:
    • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of multiple T&D and substation projects.
    • Define project/program objectives, scope, deliverables, and performance criteria.
    • Develop and manage project/program plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
    • Facilitate regular project meetings and provide status updates to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Budget & Schedule Management:
    • Develop and manage project/program budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial targets are met.
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to cost overruns, schedule delays, and scope changes.
    • Ensure timely delivery of all project milestones and final deliverables.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address challenges that may impact project success.
    • Monitor project/program progress, identifying and addressing issues before they escalate.
    • Implement contingency plans as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all project work adheres to industry standards, quality expectations, and safety regulations.
    • Work closely with QA/QC teams to monitor the quality of materials, workmanship, and overall project execution.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as utility standards.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals to achieve project objectives.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting professional growth and development.
    • Manage team performance, providing regular feedback and ensuring accountability.
  • Contract Management:
    • Oversee contract negotiations, change orders, and claims management.
    • Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that the company's interests are protected.
    • Review and approve subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and invoices.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
    • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of experience in project/program management, with a focus on T&D and substation projects.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure projects.
    • Experience with utility projects, including high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project/program management skills, with proficiency in using project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
    • Deep understanding of T&D and substation design, construction, and operations.
    • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications:
    • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification is strongly preferred.
    • OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.
