The area also offers sports arenas for baseball, softball, soccer and beautiful golf courses. There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.

Job Description:

SVCC is seeking a Project Manager as part of the College's expansion plan for the Campus Within Walls program. SVCC's Campus Within Walls program provides second chances through higher education to incarcerated students. Through college education, Campus Within Walls provides our students with the tools they need to successfully re-enter society and become productive citizens.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all project related activities, ensuring adherence to the approval timeline and budget, and tracking progress on all outputs. The manager will participate in the Clean Energy Workforce, encourage success among program participants, provide scheduled site visits and utilize technology to maintain budgets and scheduling of programs.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel to and work within the following correctional centers:

Lunenburg Correctional Center, Nottoway Correctional Center, Baskerville Correctional Center, Virginia Correctional Center, State Farm Correctional Center, Halifax Correctional Center, Greensville Correctional Center

Some of the duties include but are not limited to:

* Financial Management (approval of all project expenditures before purchase and before allocation; track spending and create quarterly cost projects for consultation with the Project Director; manage all activities with reference to compliance with Federal guidance and approved project plan; serve as the scheduling point of contact for all faculty, staff, and partner interactions with the carceral institutions; assist Finance Department in creation of development of budgets for future projects as requested, etc.)

* Resource Management (create a detailed project schedule and communicate with project staff and partners to maintain progress in accordance with the timeline; coordinate the allocation of project staff time to address commitments made by the project; work with the Project Director to identify staff roles, determine percentages of time required from staff and contractors to meet project goals, sync staffing requirements with budget; supervise the Project Assistant, etc.)

* Contract/Compliance Management (oversee compliance with federal award management requirements; ensure project staff receive appropriate training on federal award management rules; initiate drafting of agreements for all contractors and subrecipients; ensure all project contracts provide appropriate controls, meet project needs and comply with project timeline and federal contracting guidance; ensure all project materials and activities include appropriate recognition of federal funding entities as specified in the funding agreement; provide federal funders with copies of project materials as requested, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience

* Valid driver's license

* Recent, professional supervisory experience

* Previous experience with managing budgets and forecasting expenditures

* Proficient, working knowledge of internet applications and PC-based software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, Google docs, etc.)

* Basic knowledge of Federal contracting principles and terminology

* Adept at managing tasks and balancing priorities

* Experience with project management

* Demonstrated ability to independently plan, independently organize and implement multiple assigned responsibilities, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

* Ability to maintain appropriate legal compliance in the areas of budget

* Ability to interact with clients and the public with a professional demeanor that promotes the college and its mission in a positive manner

* Knowledge of barriers to educational success and a desire to help others reach their educational goals

* Experience working with racially, ethnically, economically and age-diverse individuals

* Strong interpersonal skills to help engage, provide support to, and motivate students

* Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to effectively follow up and follow through

* Effective oral and written communication skills

* Effective problem-solving skills

* Excellent organizational skills

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team

* Discretion in handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge of the Virginia Department of Corrections

* Previous experience in a correctional setting

* Knowledge of available financial aid and scholarship information

* Knowledge of enrollment procedures

* Previous experience working with grants
