Design & Construction Management
Job Description
Performs professional architectural and/or engineering project management services and analysis for design and construction projects. Acts as the main point of contact and manages design and construction projects from project initiation through bidding and remains involved in the project through construction completion and closeout. Oversees the consultant selection and hiring process for architectural and engineering consultants. Coordinates and facilitates design review meetings with project stakeholders. Ensures consultants are following applicable codes and University design standards. Maintains project budget integrity and controls project expenditures.
* Coordinate communication between design consultants and internal and external stakeholders for capital projects
* Facilitate technical and code plan review for capital projects, ensuring compliance with university design standards, applicable building codes, and constructability
* Prepare, maintain, and monitor budget and cost performance for construction projects
* Evaluate and recommend selection of architects and engineering teams for project design
* Provide strong leadership to the design process and in the resolution of design decisions; Give consideration to code requirements, Life Cycle Costs, and constructability in leading the resolution of challenges with design decisions that are in alignment with the established goals and requirements for the project
* Evaluate and approve consultant and contractor pay requests and change order requests
* Prepare, track, and monitor progress of design and construction schedules for construction projects
* Prepare reports, recommendations, and approval requests for Board of Curators
* Ability to negotiate contracts and change orders
* Maintain relationships with consultants, contractors, and internal and external stakeholders
* Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management
* 6 years project management experience for capital construction projects
* Registered Architect or Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain by comity in the State of Missouri within 6 months of hiring
* University/Higher Education project management experience
* Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMP-CP certification
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $68,200-$120,000 annually.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
