Position Summary: The Project Engineer/Project Manager is responsible for leading custom design projects, owning the design, development and build-to-completion for custom tanks in various industries. The PE/PM is an Engineer who will also lead the complete project for a customer. The PE/PM will rely on experience of developing and leading projects in collaboration with the sales and drafting teams to design custom tanks. The Project Engineer/Project Manager is a critical role for Tate's growing business and will be located at the Tate office in Spartanburg, SC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customer technical specifications and drawings and develop designs based on
  • customer-supplied plans and specifications, and a variety of applicable codes, such as ASME, API, AWWA, NFPA, ASIC, and National and International Building Codes.
  • Generate detailed shop and field erection cost estimates.
  • Generate Subcontractor Request for Quotation Packages.
  • Review Customer Terms and Conditions.
  • Write and issue technical and commercial proposals to customers.
  • Own the project management leadership for a project, coordinating intra-company project activities including drafting, purchasing, shop-fabrication, and field-erection, as well as
  • subcontract management, contract changes and ongoing customer service during each project.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure strong teamwork to achieve goals and to provide high levels of customer satisfaction.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and leading engineering projects required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing or heavy construction industries
  • required.
  • Experience with the design and construction of ASME Pressure Vessels or Above Ground Storage Tanks
  • Proficient with standard productivity tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Word. Experience with Solidworks, Primavera, and Compress, is a plus.

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering required. Emphasis on structural design is preferred. Advanced engineering degree or PE license preferred.
