Carlow University is currently accepting applications for our Project Safe Director position. The Director will design and oversee the implementation of the Carlow University Project Safe, establishing a multidisciplinary approach to combat sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking on campus. The Campus Program supports activities that develop campus-based coordinated responses that include campus victim services, law enforcement, health care providers, housing officials, administrators, student leaders, faith-based organizations, student organizations, and disciplinary boards, and that enhance victim safety. Carlow, in partnership collaboratively and intentionally with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR), Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office will serve, as the community partners on this project. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the primary campus prevention specialist overseeing the Campus-based Coordinated Response Team (CCRT) project planning and implementation.
- Coordinate a campus team to address comprehensive violence prevention awareness and initiatives.
- Responsible for CCRT communication and coordination between internal and external partners.
- Oversee ongoing implementation of Project Safe strategic plan in the areas of awareness, prevention, conduct, law enforcement, and victim/survivor services.
- Review the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) annual results to determine the greatest areas of need to guide the CCRT strategy.
- Prepare to conduct an annual Campus Climate Survey.
- Review all printed materials, policies and procedures to ensure that they are inclusive of LGBTQIA+ experiences, use People First language, and are culturally sensitive.
- Review and revise Carlow policies and procedures with particular attention to issues of confidentiality, protection of student rights, safety planning and complaint procedures.
- Plan training for first responders to ensure a coordinated response to DVDVSAS incidents.
- Plan training for Student Conduct Board and disciplinary investigators.
- Create multiple avenues for sharing information about what confidential resources available, including websites, posters, campus-wide emails, and other opportunities.
- Create a schedule for campus-wide universal education and prevention activities and events.
- Plan cultural sensitivity training for all campus faculty and staff, including campus police and investigators, counselors, and medical staff.
- Supervise Carlow Work- Study students.
- Oversee DVDVSAS peer education program.
- Write and submit all required reports mandated by the grant.
- Attend all trainings mandated by the grant.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: - BA required, MA in Student Affairs, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
- MSW preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: - Three to five years' experience dealing with sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking issues required, preferably on a college campus or with college-aged persons. Demonstrated experience coordinating campus-wide projects preferred. We seek a scholar-practitioner with an understanding of trauma-informed approaches across all systems and knowledge of research-informed practice.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
- Proficiency and extensive experience in using Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Professional demeanor (face-to-face, telephone, email); ability to communicate with diverse population of people and work collaboratively across other departments; ability to remain calm under pressure or when dealing with challenging situations.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive matters and emergent situations using discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment.
- Ability to analyze situations, propose solutions to problems, anticipate needs, and use good judgment.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills and willingness to take the initiative to adapt to change and address issues/solve problems as they arise.
- Ability to set priorities and implement projects and day-to-day work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow through on projects from beginning to completion and work on multiple complex projects simultaneously.
