The Project Safety Manager will report to the Vice President of Safety Management and work closely with and support the operations team. This role will interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our Corporate Office in Hillsborough, Pueblo, Colorado.Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.Thalle is an Equal Opportunity Employer, E-Verify and Drug Free Workplace.Regional Office Location: Pueblo, Colorado.Job Title: Project Safety ManagerSalary: Competitive compensation package.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for full-time on-site safety and occupational health management for the project, will be designated as competent person and responsible for providing safety direction and ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and programs through coaching, training, visibility, gaining the trust of workers and building a culture of personal awareness and accountability.
  • Conducting daily inspections and maintaining safety documentation.
  • Conducting incident investigations and maintain OSHA 300 form.
  • Attend construction progress meetings.
  • Maintain a tracking system to monitor identified deficiencies and implement plans to ensure their resolution.
  • Researching, analyzing, documenting and providing ongoing advice to site management to ensure all tasks are performed safely.
  • Ensuring subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Recommending improved procedures.
  • Schedule and execute safety training and tool talks.
  • Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • 2 years of Proposal Development Construction experience required.
  • Working knowledge of government (state, federal, and OFCCP) contracting processes.
  • OSHA 500 Trainer
  • HAZMAT 40
  • SST 62
  • Confined space experience
  • CHST
  • 40 Site Safety Managers Class
  • Experience in heavy civil construction industry a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Suite including In-Design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Writing experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to form excellent working relationships with all levels of employees.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Conferences and Trade Show experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
