Intertek's project-related assurance, testing, inspection and consulting services provide the risk management and quality assurance the industry needs to ensure the reliability, safety and performance of new developments, existing assets and facilities. Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, building enclosure commissioning (BECx), and enclosure field performance testing for new construction, existing and retrofit projects.What are we looking for?The Project Specialist will assist project managers and senior team leadership to ensure the success of our projects during various phases of design and construction. The work will also include new construction enclosure consulting and commissioning during design and construction phases and the evaluation, investigation, and repairs for existing buildings. This position assumes participation in site visits and will travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations; travel estimate is 25%-70%.The base wage or salary range for this position is $75000 to $110000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, medical plan options, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, tuition reimbursement, and more.Shift/Schedule: Monday - Friday, core business hoursWhat you'll do:Perform/assist with field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, windows, curtain walls, and other building elementsPerform construction administration services and site visitsAssist with/perform forensic investigations and documentation of existing conditions including wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements, etcPrepare professionally written field reports and survey documents Learn to/develop skills to perform building enclosure reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittalsLearn/assist with remediation design of building enclosuresLearn to/develop skills in preparation of sketches and details using AutoCAD and manual hand-drawn techniquesThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesMinimum Requirements & Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management required1+ years of Enclosure Consulting/Commissioning experience required Technical knowledge of building construction and building enclosure systems Construction administration, progress observation and site inspection experienceAbility to efficiently work on projects in a team environmentExcellent organizational and project management skillsDemonstrated ability to meet deadlinesConsistent, professional interaction and communicationAbility to travel frequently within and outside the local area, depending on workloads and project locations. Estimate 25%-70% travel timeCertification for supported and suspended scaffolding requiredFluency in English for the safe and effective performance of the job is requiredValid driver's license and reliable driving record is requiredPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:Degrees in Architecture & Engineering are highly preferred Highly prefer individuals with experience in the New York City area and Greater Metro Region with building enclosure consulting workPhysical Demands:The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by the project specialist staff to successfully perform the essential functions of this work.
