This position will primarily assist the Parks Stewardship Team with project management including research, mapping, project tracking, funding and grants support, and complex public engagement. The Project Technician will also support Division-wide communications via public notices, website content, and outreach on applicable activities. Applicants must be skilled in handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong written and oral communications, interpersonal skills, and a high level of organization is required.Please Note: The current vacancy is for a two-year term, part-time position that will work no more than 30 hours/week.Summary/PurposeUnder direction, support and coordinate project work activities of personnel and contractors/vendors to ensure satisfactory completion of assigned project administrative and management duties, for planning, construction and maintenance projects and activities in support of City operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) 1. Assist with and support the coordination of assigned division planning, construction and/or maintenance projects, and be accountable for project implementation and close-out within the defined project scope, budget, and timeline.2. Coordinate maintenance or project work with staff to carry out projects or job assignments for City operations.3. Assist division Project Management Teams in determining the scope of various projects, establishing project methodology, estimates, quotes/bids, timetables, project updates, and recommendations to assist in decision-making throughout the project life cycle.4. Assist division Project Management Teams in coordinating project purchasing activities and overall project budgets as assigned as well as participate in and/or manage project and capital planning activities as assigned.5. Assist in coordinating the work of project vendors and/or contractors and gather information required to analyze project needs and requirements.6. Prepare bid specifications for consultants/contractors, review bid proposals, present reports, project summary submissions, and participate in the selection of consultants/contractors.7. Collaborate and confer with consultants to develop feasibility studies and financial analysis, develop project plans including site access, remediation plans, strategies, timelines, and contingencies.8. Perform cost analysis and assist in negotiating contract terms with consultants/contractors.9. Coordinate with various City departments, other government agencies, community groups, and others impacted and/or directly served by assigned projects.10. Coordinate and maintain communications with the public to receive complaints and suggestions, to provide information and explanations regarding activities and projects, and to resolve disputes and conflicts as needed.11. Present project information to stakeholders as required.12. Determine needs, requirements, timetables, and priorities of assigned projects.13. Attend meetings as directed and work with others to develop office and reporting procedures and/or other administrative functions. Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience RequirementsA. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Environmental Science, Planning, or related field; orB. Combination of education and/or experience equal to four (4) years as a journeyman carpenter, electrician, plumber, or other similar trade; and/or experience working with a team on the management of planning, construction or maintenance projects.License RequirementsA. Possession of a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or privilege by date of appointment and thereafter in order to operate City vehicle.
