Job Overview:Nest Communities is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will support the staff with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting and record-keeping. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in property management accounting and to grow within the company. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and reports
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner.
- Help with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Support tax preparation and audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Communicate with vendors and tenants to resolve payment discrepancies.
- Perform administrative tasks related to accounting as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
- 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred,
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP knowledge preferred).
- Strong proficiency in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and other Google/MS Office tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Experience in property management accounting or familiarity with utility billing processes.
- AppFolio CRM preferred but not required
- Eagerness to learn and grow professionally in the accounting field.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
